Save the Date Inspiration
I searched all over zazzle, vistaprint, and magnetstreet for an affordable magnet STD. Holy hell, I didn't want to spend 300 dollars on 140 save the dates and I started to research how to do it.
I first posted on facebook to see if any graphic artists would be interested. Amazingly, a former classmate stepped up and she was amazing. I harassed her for weeks asking for small changes and she came up with an amazing design. However, it transformed into something completely different than what we imagined.
Thank God For Etsy
I finally sucked it up and found a etsy designer HerebySkye . Truly awesome work and super professional. The mock up was made in 24 hours. Edits took another day and I was printing by the 3rd day. I purchased magnet paper from Amazon.com for only about $50 bucks and I used hand me down envelopes from my bridesmaids. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004HQ9F04
Some things to consider:
1. Practice cutting on a cutting board. Look at both ends before you cut...I definately ruined 4-5 stds
2. Don't ask friends to do really extensive projects. If you hire someone, you can easily ask what you need without feeling you need to apologize. "it's nice, but can we try this? No no no it is good, but.." vs "I don't like that font, let's change it"
3. Don't put Dots adhesive on the back of the magnets for the cardstock so they fit into the envelopes. I ruined 40 magnet and I had to use GOO Gone to fix the backs of them. Therefore, I had to order 25 more sheets. Yikes. There goes my DIY budget.
